EXETER, R.I. (WPRI) — A massive fire destroyed a woodworking business on South Road in Exeter Friday afternoon.

Flames broke out just after 1 p.m. at Lincoln Wood Products Inc., a company that manufactures pallets and other wood products.

Town firefighters said three propane tanks exploded during the fire. They also said it was difficult getting water to the scene because the building is located a quarter-mile from the road.

The owner tried to extinguish the flames himself, but was not able to.

According to Exeter Fire Chief Rodman Jordan, no one was hurt.

The approximately 150′-by-150′ building is considered a total loss.

Crews had the fire knocked down by 2:30 p.m., but at last check were still working to put out hot spots.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
