Two men shot, one fatally, in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) –Two men were shot, one of them fatally, Friday night in New Bedford.

Police Chief David Provencher told Eyewitness News that the two were shot at about 9:30 p.m. on Collette Street.

A spokesman for the Bristol County District Attorney’s office said that the two victims were found outside 125 Collette Street. 20 year-old Daniel Smith of New Bedford died of his wounds, while the second victim, a 25 year-old man whose name has not yet been released, remains in critical condition at the hospital.

Anyone who was in the area between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and has any information on the shooting is asked to contact the New Bedford Police Department by calling 508-991-6300 or the anonymous tip line at 508-961-4584.
