PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Two suspects were scheduled to be arraigned on several charges in connection with the Christmas Eve murder in Pawtucket.
Daquan Watts, 20, and Jose Lopez, 17, were set to go before Justice Robert D. Krause in Providence County Superior Court Friday to be arraigned on charges of murder, discharge of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, conspiracy, and carrying a firearm without a license.
Watts and Lopez allegedly shot and killed Ryan Almeida, 21, outside of his mother’s Pawtucket home inside the Galego Court housing complex last Christmas Eve. Almeida later died at the hospital from injuries sustained.
Pawtucket Police carried out the investigation. They were able to identify the suspects through surveillance video.
Watts was arrested in Maine last month and ordered held without bail. He was transported to Rhode Island for his bail hearing on April 24.
Lopez, a minor, was waived out of Family Court to be tried as an adult and is being held without bail. Lopez admitted to police that he drove himself and Watts to the murder scene.
The third suspect, Tyron Wilcox, 21, was taken into custody on April 10 and charged with murder and conspiracy.
