NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Court security officer and retired North Kingstown Police Lieutenant Frank McKnight will be laid to rest this week.
McKnight died at Rhode Island Hospital May 29 after he was struck by a bus while on duty in downtown Providence.
U.S. Marshal Jamie Hainsworth and North Kingstown Police Chief Thomas Mulligan announced funeral plans for the fallen officer Monday.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 6 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, located at 825 Boston Neck Road in North Kingstown. A law enforcement walkthrough will be held prior to the public calling hours at 3 p.m.
Funeral services and a celebration of McKnight’s life will be held Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernand’s Catholic Church, located at 275 Tower Hill Road in North Kingstown. Law enforcement will gather at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. to prepare for a formal procession to the church.
McKnight’s family, the U.S. Marshals Service, and members of the North Kingstown Police Department wished to pass along thanks all that have expressed their thoughts and sympathies.
