PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are working to track down a pair of suspects after a Walmart in Providence was held up at gunpoint.
The cash office of the Silver Spring Street store was robbed at about 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 by a man armed with a revolver.
Police said the man appeared to have entered the locked exterior and interior doors of the office using the same key.
The suspect is described as a black male, standing approximately 5’10” to 6’1″, weighing 180-200 pounds, and at the time of the crime was wearing a blue Champion hooded sweatshirt, khaki-colored pants, black shoes/sneakers, latex gloves, and had what appeared to be a shirt covering his face.
The suspect fled in a green 1995 Dodge Caravan with a broken passenger side window, which police said was reported stolen about five hours earlier from the Portuguese Club in Pawtucket. The van, which was operated by a second suspect, was later recovered near the scene of the robbery, according to police.
Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to contact Det. Michael Otrando of the Providence Police Department at (401) 641-1374.
