Beheaded animals found near train tracks

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) — Central Falls police are investigating after several animal carcasses were discovered near the train tracks Tuesday morning.

According to Central Falls police chief Col. James Mendonca, officers and animal control responded to the Providence-Worcester railroad tracks around 9:30 a.m. for reports of an animal carcass on the tracks. When they arrived, they discovered two dead goats and three dead chickens. He said the animals had been beheaded and were in a decomposed state.

Police said any other information, including a motive, won’t be released until detectives complete their investigation.
