PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The driver in a violent crash in North Providence that resulted in the death of one of his passengers is now facing a slew of charges, including driving under the influence.
According to North Providence Police Captain Dan Cennamo, Daniel Gautreau, of Providence, was arraigned Thursday night.
The single-car crash, which occurred at about 1 a.m. Thursday on Mineral Spring Avenue, left the car split in two pieces.
The passenger in the backseat, Dominic Guziejka, 21, was killed as a result.
Gautreau and a second passenger were taken to Rhode Island Hospital in serious condition, police said.
After being released from the hospital, Gautreau was arraigned on charges of DUI, causing death; DUI, causing injury; driving to endanger, death resulting; driving to endanger, causing bodily injury; and reckless driving.
