PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island’s Attorney General is announcing his campaign to keep office.
Attorney General Peter Kilmartin made the official announcement of his bid for reelection just after 10 a.m. on Friday. The announcement was made at the Walter G. Gatchell VFW Post on Fountain Street in Pawucket.
He was joined by members of Rhode Island’s public safety community, as well as numerous friends and family members.
“The Attorney General is a serious role, one that requires responsible leadership,” Kilmartin said. “That means putting people and policy over politics, and putting justice over expediency. For the last four years, I’ve made sure my administration has been worthy of this office.”
Kilmartin served as a Pawtucket police officer for nearly 24 years and rose to the rank of prosecutor and captain. He will face off with GOP challenger Dawson Hodgson, who is a state senator and former state prosecutor.
