PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A man accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed one of his passengers was arraigned before a judge Monday morning.
Daniel Gautreau, 21, was behind the wheel when his car struck a utility pole on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence at about 1 a.m. on June 19.
The car split in half, and 21-year-old Dominic Guziejka was killed.
Gautreau and another passenger were hospitalized following the crash. He was later arrested and charged with DUI, death resulting; DUI, injury resulting; driving to endanger, death resulting; driving to endanger, causing bodily injury; and reckless driving.
Gautreau was released on $15,000 surety bail. He’s due back in court August 25 for a pretrial conference.
