BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A Bristol man accused of planting a camera in the women’s locker room of a Seekonk gym is now being accused in a separate case of video voyeurism.

Barrington Police Chief John LaCross said Mark McVay, 55, was arrested at his Paddock Court home Tuesday.

LaCross said his department was contacted by Seekonk police after they discovered four videos on McVay’s iPhone taken at United Methodist Church in Barrington back in January.

McVay allowed police to search his phone as they investigated him as a suspect in the hidden camera found at Planet Fitness on Taunton Avenue last week.

According to a police affidavit obtained by Eyewitness News, two of the videos captured a 16-year-old girl from under a table during a Sunday school class. Police later spoke with the teenager and her mother, and she was able to identify the clothing she was wearing and confirmed that McVay was sitting across from her at the church on that day.

The victim also told investigators McVay often gave her compliments, and once commented on the color of her bra.

McVay’s connection to United Methodist Church is unclear, and the church declined to comment on the incident.

The office of the Attorney General said McVay was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of video voyeurism and bail was set at $10,000 with surety. The AG’s office then presented McVay as a probation violator, and for that a judge ordered him held without bail.

Seekonk police said they also plan to charge McVay in the Planet Fitness case.

He’s due back in court July 9 for a determination of attorney, then again on July 16 for a probation hearing.
