BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) – Threats of downpours won’t derail a 229-year-old tradition Friday morning, as the Bristol Fourth of July celebration is still scheduled to start on time despite the weather.

Eyewitness News has been in Bristol since 4 a.m., interviewing organizers and parade-goers alike to get a feel for the meaning of this centuries-old tradition.
