Rhode Island Senior Olympian Ruth Gallagher qualified for next year’s national games, becoming the first 90-year-old to represent the Ocean State in the singles tennis category.
“Just wonderful, but I can’t give all the credit to me. The man up above is the one who gave me my health to be able to accomplish these things,” she said.
Ruth will be carrying the flag for team Rhode Island next summer in Minneapolis, St. Paul, leading the team in the opening ceremonies that will features 12,000 athletes from across the country.
