FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Wednesday morning’s storm brought intense wind and rain to Southern New England, which in turn caused trouble for drivers in low-lying areas.
A Flash Flood Warning was put in effect and for good reason – many streets that were perfectly navigable one minute were drowning in flood waters the next.
Pleasant Street in Fall River was one particularly bad area, but despite the warnings to slow down from city workers – many just pushed their way through the giant puddles.
“Some of them are rocking through because they want to be heroes, but when their cars get stuck – they’re looking for help and we try to do as much as we can,” said Carlos Bonanca from Fall River Wastewater Treatment. “The idea is trying to slow them down so they’re not eating the curb.”
The potential for more rain Wednesday means the potential for more flooding, and drivers across the region are urged to be cautious on the roads. To avoid stalling your car and getting stuck in deep water – it’s always best to find an alternate route rather than try to navigate through it.
