PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The latest tests show no presence of West Nile Virus or EEE in Rhode Island.
The Department of Environmental Management says all 143 samples statewide from the week of July 7 are negative for both WNV and Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
Test results are still pending for 67 mosquito pool samples from traps set July 14.
Officials say you should still take precautions. West Nile Virus was detected earlier this summer in mosquitoes in Fall River and Westport, and a sample in Voluntown, Connecticut also tested positive for EEE.
