Suspect in city’s 10th homicide turns himself in

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – The suspect in Providence’s 10th homicide of 2014 turned himself in to police Monday afternoon, according to Major David Lapatin with the Providence Police Department.

Justice Andrade, 20, was wanted in connection to a Saturday morning shooting that resulted in 20-year-old Ty-shon Perry’s death. Police issued a warrant for Andrade’s arrest over the weekend, and Andrade surrendered to police on Monday.

Lapatin said Andrade will be arraigned Tuesday morning.

Perry was shot on River Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital. Police say it is unclear whether Perry was targeted in Saturday’s shooting.

They said Perry had no criminal record and had no known connections to any neighborhood gangs.

Lapatin said Monday morning that police had not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
