CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) – A Cranston man is facing charges after police claim he attacked a woman and threw a four-week-old puppy against a wall in a local motel room.
Only Eyewitness News was in the courtroom when Eduardo Rivera Vasquez, 25, pleaded not guilty Monday to domestic assault and unnecessary cruelty to animals.
An unidentified woman told police Vasquez assaulted her in a New London Avenue EconoLodge. During the same alleged incident, the woman claims Vasquez picked up a puppy and threw it against the motel’s wall. According to information presented in court, neither the woman nor the puppy were seriously injured.
Vasquez’s bail was set at $5,000 with surety. He is due back in court in August, and he was ordered to not have contact with the alleged victim.
