Emergency crews assist disabled boat

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) – Emergency officials in Charlestown and the United States Coast Guard helped assist a disabled boat Sunday.

The boat hit the jetty while attempting to enter the Charlestown Breachway around 8:30 p.m.

There were nine people and one dog on board when the owner of the vessel lost all steering capabilities.

Crews helped transport six people and the dog back into Ninigret Pond.

The boat’s owner and his wife stayed on board until it was towed from the area Monday morning.
