Blood center temporarily relocated after flood

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) – The Rhode Island Blood Center’s South County Donor Center has been temporarily relocated to a new site in the same plaza after a water heater failure resulted in flooding at their permanent location.

Signs have been placed to help donors find the new site. Officials estimate the permanent location will be operational again within two to four weeks.

The Blood Center will be able to collect whole blood and double red cell donations at the temporary site and anticipate being able to soon accept platelet donations.

Platelet donors can also visit the Blood Center’s other locations in Westerly, Providence, Middletown, Warwick, and Woonsocket.

For information about hours at the various centers or blood drives that are held throughout the state, visit the Blood Center’s Web Site at or call 1-800-283-8385.
