Connecticut man killed in Coventry crash

A man was killed on July 23 when his car left Plainfield Pike and overturned.

COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — Accident reconstruction teams are working to figure out what caused a single-car crash in Coventry that took the life of a Connecticut man.

Police said they got a call at 1:49 a.m. Wednesday from a passing motorist that a vehicle was off the road on Plainfield Pike.

The pickup truck left the roadway, drove down an embankment and overturned, according to police.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Scott Deware of Sterling, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said he was the only person in the truck.
