PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Thousands of users registered with StubHub, the popular online ticket reseller, had their accounts hacked recently.
According to investigators, thieves didn’t just access the accounts; they used them to purchase tickets. Investigators say the cyber-thieves bought several tickets to some of the most popular events around the tri-state area, including Justin Timberlake concerts, New York Yankees games and sold-out Broadway shows.
Six suspects have been charged in the StubHub hack-job. The suspects hail from the United States, the United Kingdom and Russia. They are each charged with several felonies, including money laundering, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
