Cats and dogs rescued from house fire

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WPRI) – The good news: a number of cats and dogs were rescued from a burning building Wednesday evening.

But, the bad news: fire crews say the flames caused $50,000 worth of damage.

According to the Lakeville Fire Department, a structure fire that sparked in a house at 84 Main Street was under control as of 5:40 p.m.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire, but several dogs and cats had to be rescued from the building.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but crews said they are looking into a possible lightning strike.
