PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)- Providence police have made an arrest in connection with several violent home invasions.
Sandry Russell, 30, was arrested at his home Monday after police determined he was a suspect in a violent home invasion on Plainfield Street on July 30.
According to police, a masked intruder forced his way into the home, kicked in a bedroom door and immediately shot and killed a pit bull. Police said the suspect then attacked the dog’s owner, an unidentified 19-year-old man, shooting him once in the stomach and once in the leg.
Police said Russell may also be connected to a home invasion in April as well as four others this year.
Russell was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Tuesday. He is facing numerous charges including burglary, felony assault, first degree robbery, assault with intent to commit felonies, carrying a pistol without a license, malicious injury to animals, and two counts of using a firearm while committing a violent crime
