A book that has just been released features the Providence Police Department and spans the history of one of the oldest police departments in the country.
Authors Paul Campbell, John Glancy, and George Pearson, joined the Rhode Show Wednesday to talk more about the new release and the more than 200 vintage images that it includes.
The book titled ‘Providence Police Department’ marks the 150th anniversary of the department and includes photos from archives that have never been published. It details the evolution of technology in crime, back to a time when fighting crime was done with hand held wood clapper alarms.
The book’s three authors will be holding a talk and book signing on Thursday, August 7 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Barnes & Noble in Warwick.
Net proceeds from the book will be donated to the Providence Police Foundation.
