PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man was held without bail Wednesday on charges he sexually assaulted a woman he knew.
A Providence Police spokeswoman tells WPRI.com the attack was reported shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday at an address on Tiffany Street. The alleged victim, a woman in her fifties, said she’d known Ronald Guertin, 61, when he was doing handyman work.
Past police records show Guertin is a convicted sex offender and pleaded no contest to assault with intent to murder back in the late 90s.
Officers arrested Guertin at his home on Hendricks Street Tuesday. He’s accused of choking and sexually assaulting the woman.
Wednesday morning, Guertin was arraigned before a judge, but no plea was entered due to felony charges.
