Shot fired during Subway robbery; manhunt underway

TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) — Police are on the lookout for an armed suspect who fired a single gunshot while robbing a Subway restaurant in Taunton Wednesday morning.

The suspect, who was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and a white mask, made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police brought in a K-9 unit and set up a perimeter in the area of Route 44 just after 9 a.m. in response to the brazen crime. However, as of Wednesday evening, the suspect had not been located.

Police said there were no customers inside the sandwich shop during the ordeal, and no injuries were reported.

Taunton police reviewed the business’s surveillance footage and released the following photos of the suspect:
