EAST PROVIDENCE,R.I. (WPRI) — U.S. fighter jets dropped bombs on Islamic militants in Iraq Friday, leaving many Americans wondering why we’re again getting involved there.
Eyewitness News Analyst Lt. Gen. Reginald Centracchio paid us a visit to explain why the strikes were necessary to protect our troops still stationed in Iraq.
“The action was absolutely essential to protect our soldiers because we cannot depend on the Iraqi forces to defend out soldiers, as was evidenced over the last several months as we lose more and more territory,” he said.
