3rd Annual Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic wraps; stars laud success

Some of the biggest names in the entertainment world hit the links in the 3rd Annual Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic on Tuesday – all to benefit local charities.

The two-day celebrity classic kicked off on Monday, with the Celebrity-Amateur Golf Outing held at the Carnegie Abbey in Portsmouth.

“Magic Johnson was on fire last night, he did the live auction, we probably raised close to $300,000 in the auction,” said Osborne on Tuesday morning.

The event concluded Tuesday night with the Charity Champions Dinner Gala.

The first Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Softball Classic wrapped up on Sunday night at McCoy Stadium and raised approximately $50,000 for local nonprofits including: The Amos House, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence, The Music School of the RI Philharmonic, The MET, St. Mary’s Home for Children, and Button Hole.

The Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic in addition to the Softball Classic support initiatives to bring music and arts back to public school systems and those that provide safe, enriching environments and services for families and children in need.

To date, more than $300,000 has been distributed to Rhode Island nonprofits.
