CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) – Cranston police are investigating after a 9-year-old boy claimed a pair of men attempted to lure him into their car.
Police said they received a call at about 8:45 p.m. from the boy’s mother. According to police, the 9-year-old child told his mother than two men in their early 20s were sitting in their vehicle on Villa Avenue. The child said the men were making what police called “luring statements” to him.
Police said the child immediately ran into his home to tell his mother. They said the boy provided “limited descriptive information” regarding the two suspects, and they said the suspects may have been driving a gold car.
The report has made neighbors such as Alison DeBritto nervous. She told Eyewitness News she will no longer let her young daughter go outside without an adult watching.
“I have seen around this area a gold car,” she said. “I didn’t pay any attention because we’re safe… or so I thought.”
Anyone with information into this report is urged to contact the Cranston Police Department at (401) 477-5004.
