PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Department of Environmental Management announced Tuesday its test results from 147 mosquito pools and 34 traps set statewide during the week of July 28. All tested negative for both West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
Tests measured August 4 are pending.
So far this year, the DEM says there have been no isolations of either virus. Both have been found in Massachusetts mosquito samples, and West Nile Virus has been isolated in Connecticut.
Officials say you should still take precautions to avoid mosquito bites, including covering up skin when spending time outside at night.
