Back to school is the second biggest spending season of the year, only taking a back seat to Christmas. This year, spending is expected to reach $26.5 billion for grades K-12.
According to a back to school survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics, the average family with children in grades K-12 will spend $669, which is up 5 percent from $634.78 last year.
Emmy winner Claudia Lombana joined the Rhode Show via satellite on Friday to share some back to school shopping insight.
According to Lombana, this is a big year for mobile back to school shopping. Almost 37% of smartphone owners shopping for school items will research products from their phone, which is a number that is steadily climbing.
