PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A teenager accused in a drive-by shooting that left a Providence man dead and his teen sister injured is now facing numerous charges, including murder.
According to police, Joseph Taylor, 18, is accused of firing a 9mm handgun into a car on Wendell Street – killing 20-year-old Davon Taylor and injuring 15-year-old sister.
Despite sharing the same last name, police said there’s no relation between the suspect and the victims.
On Monday, the attorney general’s office said a grand jury handed out an indictment charging Taylor with murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm while in the commission of a crime of violence – resulting in death, discharging a firearm while committing of a crime of violence, carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, and conspiracy.
Taylor is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 3 in Superior Court.
