CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WPRI) — The emotions are still raw for the Cumberland American Little League team following Monday night’s one-run loss to Chicago.
It’s a feeling to which Colin Connata, who was on Cumberland’s 2011 squad that made it to Williamsport, can relate.
“In a couple of days they’ll look back on it and they’ll realize how lucky they were to even be there,” he said. “It will just be memories they’ll take with them forever.”

He admitted he was jealous of this year’s team.
“I missed it so much being able to play Little League. It’s the best baseball you’ll play in your whole life,” he told Eyewitness News.
Connata also played under Coach Dave Belisle, and was no surprised by the emotional speech he gave the players following the defeat.
“Even when you’re losing a game by a ton or something, he can really just refocus you and bring you back to a level where you can do the best that you possibly can,” he said of his former coach.
