Cumberland coach’s postgame speech goes viral

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)- A tear-jerking postgame speech from Cumberland American coach Dave Belisle following his team’s 8-7 loss Monday in the Little League World Series has spread across the Internet, with people around the world sharing video of his motivational pep talk.

Belisle became a national star over the last week as ESPN analysts fawned over his upbeat message to his little leaguers during their three games in Williamsport, Pa. Cumberland American was eliminated from title contention by Chicago Monday night.

“The only reason why I’ll probably end up shedding a tear is because this is the last time I’m going to end up coaching you guys,” Belisle told his team after the game. ESPN cameras stayed rolling for the duration of two-minute speech.
