WILLIAMSPORT, P.A. (WPRI) – For one family, part of the Cumberland American Little League team, the support they received at the Little League World Series was more than they could have imaged.
The Belisle family goes hand-in-hand with the Little League World Series. Cumberland American Coach David Belisle has his son Johnny on the team, and previously coached his older son in Williamsport in 2011.

Missing this year from the stands was David’s wife Nancy, whose fight against cancer kept her home for the first two games.
On Monday, a friend flew Nancy to Pennsylvania at the last minute to surprise her husband and cheer on her young son.
“It was too important to miss,” she said. “Just the moral support that mother and wife can bring.”
Nancy said coming to the game was a surprise to her family, who have been incredibly supportive during her fight.
“It was funny when I walked in. John was like ‘Oh hi mom’, he kind of knew I couldn’t let him down. But, David was completely shocked I was here.” Nancy said. “He’s determined to get though this. I think we will. God is on our side.”
The focus turned to Johnny and David as they put their passion and determination into Monday night’s game.
The whole family was together on Monday, and that’s the most important thing when you play in Williamsport.
