The annual Flames of Hope Series returns to Providence this October, marking Breast Cancer Awareness and raising funds for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.
Several events take place over Columbus Day weekend – from Friday, Oct. 10 – Sunday, Oct. 12. The fun kicks off at the Flames of Hope Opening Reception on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m., with live entertainment at Station Park in Providence.
A local breast cancer survivor, Carol Donnelly, and Eddie Gemma, Gloria Gemma’s son, stopped by “The Rhode Show” to discuss the big event.

The Gem Boys have been challenged by AGI Construction to raise $10,000 by running in the Pink Pump Palooza – a 50-yard dash in high heels.
The weekend fun also includes the big Flames of Hope WaterFire Providence, where the Providence River lights up in pink flames.
There will also be run and walk series that people can participate in.
