WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway in Warwick after a man was assaulted Thursday by two men that broke into his home.
Officers responded to Warwick Avenue at about 2 p.m. to find the 22-year-old victim suffering from cuts to the head.
According to police, two masked men forced their way into the home and attacked him. He told police one of the men carrying a gun, but no shots were fired.
The victim was transported to Kent County Memorial Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the suspects fled the area in a black Acura MDX. It’s not yet clear if anything was taken, but police believe the home was targeted.
“It’s a pretty quiet area, so this isn’t the typical thing we see over here,” said Warwick Police Captain Christopher Stewart.
Anyone with information about the suspects or the home invasion is asked to contact the Warwick Police Department at (401) 468-4200.
