PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A 23-year-old Massachusetts man has been charged with assault after allegedly stabbing another man at a Rhode Island state park, prompting the man to shoot him.
Rhode Island State Police said Jordan Lyttle of Fall River faces assault charges in the stabbing at Colt State Park of 25-year-old Lang Lek of Manchester, New Hampshire, over Memorial Day weekend.
Authorities said Lek then shot Lyttle twice. Lek has been charged with assault and possession of a stolen firearm. Online court records show he posted bail in June. The records don’t indicate the entering of any plea.
Lyttle was arraigned Wednesday and bail was set at $25,000 with surety.
Police have previously described the altercation as gang-related. Another New Hampshire man is also facing firearms and assault charges.
