State police to host statewide memorial for 9/11

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Members of the military, local law enforcement, firefighters, lawmakers, and residents will gather together on Thursday to honor the victims who died on September 11, 2001.

The statewide commemoration will be held on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. at the Bell Area of the Rhode Island State House. Speakers will include The Honorable Elizabeth H. Roberts, Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin, Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Lieutenant Colonel Michael J. Winquist, Brigadier General Charles E. Petrarca, Jr., The Honorable Peter F. Neronha, and family members of the victims.

Eyewitness News Anchor Mike Montecalvo will be the Master of Ceremonies.

Residents are invited to attend and honor those who lost their lives in the attacks and those who were killed while serving in the war on terror.
