NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — Officials at the historic Hotel Viking in Newport say a Texas-based firm has bought the hotel for $77 million.
The Newport Daily News reports that Dallas-based LSREF3 Viking Tenant LLC bought the 1926 hotel this week from a subsidiary of LaSalle Hotel Properties of Bethesda, Maryland.
Hotel Viking is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of the Historic Hotels of America, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The five-story brick hotel includes 208 guest rooms and suites, and more than 13,000 square feet of event space.
A spokesman for the hotel’s management company says the firm will continue to run the hotel as it has for the last 15 years.
