Police: Inmate flees from ACI work detail

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are searching for an ACI inmate after he walked away from minimum security work detail Monday afternoon.

According to Rhode Island State Police Major Todd Catlow, Keurys Pena, aka Michael Santana, 25, of Providence, was on assignment at the Prison Industries Building on Power Road when he disappeared just after 1 p.m.

He was arrested for breaking and entering into a dwelling and in December was sentenced to 54 months in prison. State police said his criminal record includes drug charges, driving without consent of owner, and resisting arrest.

Pena is 5-foot-8, 200 pounds, and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Police believe he could be heading toward his last known address of 80 Sackett Street in Providence.

Anyone with information about Pena’s whereabouts is asked to call the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks at (401) 444-1100.
