BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP/WPRI) — Police in Massachusetts say two skydivers have died after crashing into a building during a tandem jump on Cape Cod.

Barnstable police say the skydiving instructor and student died Sunday night, shortly after the crash near the Cape Cod Airfield.

The pair landed on a building outside their designated landing area. Police have identified the victims as Andrew Munson of Nantucket and his instructor Eldon Burrier of West Lynwood, Washington.

An eyewitness, who did not want to be identified, described the scary scene and tragic fall.

“I looked up and I saw this skydiver and all of a sudden he went really quick to the side and did like a 360. He flipped over and as his parachute came down it started to flutter and then he started going really fast.”

Officials say it is unclear if the skydivers’ equipment malfunctioned. The district attorney’s office will investigate their deaths.
