CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A Cranston man accused of stabbing his girlfriend’s son in the foot with a fork was ordered at his arraignment Monday to have no contact with the alleged victim.
Bail for Brandon Lyon, 26, was set at $20,000 with surety, but he was held as a probation violator on an unrelated case.
Lyon did not enter a plea when he was arraigned at Kent County District Court on a felony child abuse charge.
According to the police report, the boy’s mother reported the incident Friday night.
The boy’s mother told officers during a trip to Walmart just a few hours earlier, her 6-year-old son complained that his foot hurt. When she asked why, he told her Lyon punished him by sticking a fork into his feet and twisting it.
“Brandon told me not to tell anyone because it’s a secret and he doesn’t want to lose mommy and me,” the boy told police.
The boy told officers that when he started crying, Lyon hit him in the head and told him to shut up. He said he believed he was being punished to go upstairs.
Police said the child had cuts on his feet that are consistent with the shape of a fork.
Lyon’s father maintained his son’s innocence, and said the little boy has a history of lying and anger management issues.
