Wrong number leads to drug bust

ORLEANS, Mass. (WPRI) — A wrong number leads to the arrests of a Rhode Island man and two others on drug charges on Cape Cod.

Orleans Police posted on their Facebook page that Detective Sergeant Andrew McLaughlin received numerous unprompted text messages on his police-issued cell phone last week referring to him as “Mike” and asking if he wanted to purchase drugs.

Police responded to the messages and arranged to buy heroin at the Dunkin’ Donuts near the Bourne rotary Sunday night.

34-year-old Santiago Garza of Woonsocket, 34-year-old David Martin of Milford, and 46-year-old Joseph Gately of Medfield were all arrested at the scene.  Each is charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
