Foster teacher wins national education award

FOSTER, R.I. (WPRI) — A Foster teacher is $25,000 richer after receiving a surprise honor Thursday.

Erin Quinlan, a reading specialist at Capt. Isaac Paine Elementary School, was named the Rhode Island winner of the 2014 Milken Educator Award.

The Milken Family Foundation honors dozens of exceptional elementary and secondary school teachers, principals and specialists across the country each year.

Quinlan can use the prize money however she chooses.
