Romney to headline Providence fundraiser for Fung

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is set to headline a fundraiser for Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, the Republican candidate for governor.

WPRO-AM reports that the 2012 Republican presidential candidate will appear at the fundraiser Oct. 16 at the Providence Biltmore Hotel.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, head of the Republican Governors Association, is scheduled to campaign for Fung on Friday and is expected to help raise money.

The fundraiser with Romney includes a VIP reception and a luncheon. Guests may attend both for $1,000. Tickets to the luncheon cost $250.

Romney endorsed Fung in September, during the Republican primary in which he defeated businessman Ken Block.
