Motion Denied: Perjury charge against Hernandez fiancée stands

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Efforts by a defense lawyer to get perjury charges tossed against Aaron Hernandez’s fiancée have failed.

Bristol County Superior Court Judge E. Susan Garsh Friday denied the motion filed by Shayanna Jenkins‘ lawyer.

Jenkins has pleaded not guilty to the perjury charges. The motion to dismiss claimed insufficient evidence in the case.

Prosecutors claim Jenkins lied nearly 30 times while testifying before a grand jury investigating the 2013 murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, with which Hernandez is charged.

During a hearing for the motion, Prosecutors said Jenkins lied to the grand jury regarding her communication with alleged co-conspirator Ernest Wallace, her denial that she knew there were many guns stashed in the home she shared with Hernandez, and her contention that she did not remember where she had disposed of a box she got out of the basement.
