WARREN, R.I. (WPRI) — Emergency crews rushed a woman to the hospital Thursday night after she was hit by a car backing out of a driveway.
Warren police said they received the 911 call about 8:49 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 48-year-old woman lying in the driveway of a home on Long Lane.
The preliminary investigation revealed a younger family member mistakenly accelerated backwards, hitting the woman and also striking a Volkswagen parked in the driveway.
Rescue crews took the victim, who police said had head trauma, to Rhode Island Hospital. As of Friday morning, there was no word on her condition.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
