LITTLE COMPTON, R.I. (WPRI) – About 40 volunteers gathered Saturday afternoon to search for any sign of a fisherman who went missing on October 2nd.

Adam Perry was one of three men aboard a fishing boat when it capsized, sending them into the water off Sakonnet Point.

The Coast Guard and local fire departments located the two others, Jose Rodrigues and Joe Carvallo, but could not find Perry. Officials called off their search late last Friday.

Saturday, volunteers rallied near Sakonnet Point before splitting into groups to search a wide area.

Bernie Beaudreau, Executive Director of Serve RI, said that Perry’s family had asked for the group’s help in searching. They had carried out their own search on Monday but by mid-week had put out the call for volunteers.

Searchers found a sneaker near Horseneck Beach which might have belonged to Perry, Beaudreau said, and were investigating further.
