Firefighters join together to raise funds for injured brother

RAYNHAM (WPRI) – Local firefighters are helping out a fellow firefighter who was hurt in a construction accident.

Taunton firefighters held a fundraiser Sunday at the Jockey Club in Raynham to help cover 43-year old Chad Larivee’s medical expenses. Larivee was off-duty when he fell from a three-story roof in Taunton back in July while doing construction work. Larivee injured his spinal cord and can no longer walk or use his arms.

Event organizer and friend, Timothy O’Leary said, “The firefighting community, we’re pretty tight. Massachusetts, Rhode Island, we’re pretty tight. When something like this happens, everyone comes together.”

O’Leary said an online fundraiser has already raised $180,000.
