PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The U.S. Marine Corps began their annual Toys for Tots campaign in Providence on Wednesday.
The Marine Corps is teaming up with the Salvation Army to ask the public to donate new and non-violent toys now through the holiday season.
The gifts are given to local children who are less fortunate.
“Last year, in a depressed economy, the state of Rhode Island brought in 80,000 toys and distributed to over 20,000 families,” said Master Sgt. Frank Impagliazzo.
The Marines said they hope to collect 100,000 toys this year.
